Glimpses of Jinsha

Jinsha Site, found in early 2001, was situated northeast of Chengdu, Sichuan, with an area of five square kilometers and a history of 3000 years. Important relics were discovered, including large-sized structure foundation, sacrifice-offering area, regular residential sites, graveyards etc. Unearthed rare cultural relics cover: gold, bronze, jade, stone, ivory and lacquer wares, approximately 6000 pieces. In addition, there are round about thousands of pottery shreds, tons of ivory and about 1000 buck teeth of wild boards and antlers, and there are only a “corner” of the entire relics.

The Jinsha Ruins is one of the important ruins in proto-Qin Dynasty. The prehistoric ruins of the archaic walls, Sanxingdui Ruins, boat-coffin burial of the Warrior States constitutes the four different stages of the developing and evolving civilization of the ancient Shu Kingdom and an essential component part of the civilization of ancient China.

Following the excavation of Sanxingdui Ruins, the Jinsha Sites is yet another political, economical and cultural center of the Kingdom of ancient Shu. It is an archaeological find of great significance in China in the 21 century, also, a major archaeological find of Sichuan, which has found a powerful evidence to uncover the enigma of the sudden disappearance of the Sanxingdui culture. We may as well claim it is the reappear of the magnificence of the ancient Shu Kingdom and the revival of the long-lost history, bringing to life the 3000-years old civilization sunk in deep slumped. Hence, it moves up the history of the establishment of Chengdu City from 2300 years to about 3000 years.
